About

We are currently living in a time that puts our jobs as librarians under intense scrutiny. This website was created by two high school librarians who know exactly how difficult it can be to be 100% certain of the books we purchase for our libraries. Yes, we read every professional review about a book. Yes, we check Common Sense Media. Yes, we ask other librarians when we are uncertain about a book. Unfortunately, we are only human and sometimes there are scenes in the books we purchase that we do not want in our libraries. Professional reviewers often don't discuss the items in books that could put our jobs in peril. As librarians, we are the only ones who truly understand and as such we created this website for librarians to review books in a way that will hopefully make purchasing new books slightly less stressful. If we work together, it should not take long to have a large amount of book reviews compiled for all librarians to use. This website is by librarians and for librarians. It is our hope that by working together, we can make the collection development process just a little easier for you all.

Jaime LeRoy

Hello! My name is Jaime LeRoy and I have been a librarian for the last 14 years. In that time, I have worked at an elementary school, intermediate school, middle school and have found my home at high school. I love YA books and have a somewhat unhealthy obsession with the Harry Potter series. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English-education from the University of Texas in 2005 and a Master’s Degree in library science in 2009 from Texas Women's University. I enjoy spending time with friends and family and my favorite season is football season–HOOK EM HORNS and Fly Eagles Fly!

Sarah Thomasson

Hello! I'm a high school librarian in Texas and this is my 26th year in education.  I was a high school Spanish teacher for 15 years, and elementary librarian for 3 years, and have been a high school librarian ever since.  I graduated from SFASU with a BA in Spanish, and from the University of North Texas with my MLS.  I love YA literature, especially fantasy and science fiction.  I'm and avid audiobook listener and my Audible subscription is my guilty pleasure.  I have two boys and two dogs all of whom are also audiobook lovers (yes, even the dogs).
